George Edwin Holt, III (2015) | Chairman of the Board (2016)
George E. (Ed) Holt, III is a seventh generation Botetourt County resident and the third generation to serve as a member of the Bank of Fincastle board. He is a graduate of William & Mary with both B.A. and M.B.A. degrees. Ed holds a certificate in Railroad Market Planning and Analysis from Princeton University and founded RailCar Interchange, Inc. in 2004, where he currently serves as president. He is active in the community as a member of the Botetourt County Chamber of Commerce, Walk to Emmaus, Bible Study Fellowship and a board member of Missio International, which supports the ministries of Missio Link International in Romania. When Ed relaxes, you may find him golfing, traveling, cheering for William & Mary sports teams or spending time with his family.
Charles “Scott” Steele (2016) | President and CEO
Scott Steele joined The Bank of Fincastle as President and CEO in July of 2015. Mr. Steele is a native of White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia and is a graduate of West Virginia University and the Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University. He was previously employed by CornerStone Bank in Lexington, where he served as senior vice president, chief lending officer and compliance officer. When Scott is not working at the bank, he enjoys golfing, hunting and spending time with his wife Kischa and their children.
Jean R. Craft (2005)
Jean R. Craft knows more about The Bank of Fincastle than just about anyone. She has 48 years of service and is our first female board member. She began her career in the bookkeeping department and worked as a teller, loan officer, in human resources, as our common stock clerk and retired as Executive Vice President. But retired she is not. In addition to her active membership on the board of directors, Jean is dedicated to Fincastle United Methodist Church as a member of the finance committee, Assistant Treasurer and on various church committees. In her limited spare time, Jean enjoys tending her flowers, helping friends and family, serving her church and is grateful for her wonderful family and full life.
Gregory Gersack (2017)
Gregory R. Gersack is the Senior Managing Principal and Co-Head of Investment Banking of FIG Partners, LLC. Mr. Gersack joined FIG Partners in 2008 and served as its Head of Institutional Sales/Capital Markets. He was also Senior Vice President of Sales, Director of Bank Equity Sales and Trading and Trading Manager for Howe Barnes Hoefer & Arnett, Inc. Gersack has over 23 years of diverse experience in the financial services industry. He has an extensive knowledge of the industry gained from his years of experience in the capital markets but also from holding positions as a community bank board member and a federal regulator. His professional experience also includes seven years with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, working as the Supervisory Financial Analyst with the Supervision and Regulation Division on bank merger and acquisition proposals, focusing on the financial, managerial and competitive effects of these transactions. Gersack worked in the trust department of Beverly Bank. He served as the HBI’s primary contact for the firm’s largest institutional clients and assisted them with identifying investments and trading activity. He is on the Board of Directors of FIG Partners, LLC, NorStates Bank and Northern States Financial Corporation. He was also a Director of NorCal Community Bancorp, Bank of Alameda and Howe Barnes Hoefer & Arnett, Inc. Mr. Gersack received an MBA in Finance from DePaul University in 1997 and Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lawrence University, Appleton, WI in 1987. He resides in Chicago, Illinois.
John W. Rader, Jr. (2012)
John W. Rader, Jr. has been an integral part of the board since 2012. He is the manager of Valley Investment Management LLC, a subsidiary of The Bank of Fincastle. He was previously employed as an Investment Advisor with Smith Barney and Wheat First Securities. He is a graduate of The University of Virginia with a BS in Commerce and Finance from the McIntire School of Commerce. A native of Botetourt County, he is actively involved in the community as the president of the Botetourt County Historical Society, chairman of the Botetourt County Electoral Board, chairman of the Jefferson Scholars Program of the Western Commonwealth Selection Committee, Treasurer of the University of Virginia Club of the Roanoke Valley and is an active member of the Troutville Church of the Brethren. When John is not helping his clients plan for a successful financial future, you might find him at a UVA football game or enjoying time at his home on Hilton Head Island.
Sonny Spickard (2001)
Steven W. (Sonny) Spickard has been an instrumental member of our board since 2001. He is the owner of Spickard Contracting and has been involved with property development and several entrepreneurial endeavors in Botetourt County. Sonny is an active member of Fincastle Baptist Church and has attended mission trips to Mexico, Jamaica, and Guatemala. Although his work is rarely done, when time permits, Sonny enjoys spending time with his children and grandchildren and at his cabin on Craig Creek.
Ray Sprinkle (1972)
C. Ray Sprinkle was first elected to the Bank of Fincastle Board of Directors in 1972. Ray has been an award-winning Realtor at Re/max All Stars for 28 years, winning the Hall of Fame Sales Award for being one of the top 100 Roanoke Valley Realtors. He served for 21 years on the Botetourt County School Board with ten years as Board Chairman. He has been actively involved in the community as a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and is a member of the Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors. When Ray enjoys time away from real-estate sales, you will find him on the golf course.
Robert Wagner (2017)
Robert C. Wagner is the founder and managing principal of Three Rivers Fund Advisors, LLC, the portfolio manager to a fund that invests exclusively in financial institutions. From 1997 to 2013, Mr. Wagner held senior positions at regional brokerage firms, where his specialty was the sales and trading of community bank stocks. Prior to entering the securities industry, Mr. Wagner was an attorney in private practice. Mr. Wagner has a J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law and a B.S. in Industrial Management from Carnegie Mellon University. He resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with his family.
